LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is redefining the architecture and engineering of a building. LEED provides building owners and operators a way to identify and implement green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions. LEED gives building owners and operators an evaluation on energy consumption and savings. LEED is aimed at achieving high performance in five areas; sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
There is an increasing focus on energy efficiency in the industry which has brought a wave of LEED-oriented projects to the TRI- State area. Sav Mor Mechanical took this as an opportunity and has lead the charge with completing two dozen LEED projects. Sav Mor Mechanical has developed their own commissioning team which takes a project from inception to completion in order to turn over a fully operational and energy efficient system. The company spent two years as the mechanical contractor for the Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center (AERTC) in Stony Brook, N.Y. this was the first LEED Platinum building on Long Island.
As a company, Sav Mor Mechanical has implemented ways to be more environmentally friendly. Sav Mor purchased over 14 Toyota Priuses for their Installation Managers, Service Managers and Project Managers. They have also changed their truck fleet to Sprinters with BlueTEC Diesel Engine One of the world’s cleanest diesel engines deliver more power while producing fewer emissions thanks to BlueTEC SCR technology.
